Social Anxiety Disorder is a psychological disorder and as its name implies is a fear in an individual of socializing or public interaction due to a highly conscious state of mind. A number of people suffer from this disorder all over the world. People suffering from this disorder tend to experience an increased heartbeat rate, faces turning red, and apparent discomfort when in public gatherings.
Although this is a serious issue and can completely damage an individual’s social life making him isolated from the world, the fact remains that it is not incurable and a little attention from the family members and therapy from a psychologist. The first step in getting over this illness is to actually realize and be aware of what you are going through. Remember that it is always acceptance that can yield the best results while denial may further complicate things. Next, the individual suffering from SAD must have strong willpower, belief, and a commitment to himself of making it through the illness. Another helpful approach can be to organize combine therapies whereby individuals suffering from this disorder gather, talk, share and relate. This way they can help each other recover faster.
Most of the psychological disorders today are caused by the people around us and their attitudes. Attention care and consideration are what every individual needs and if aptly provided by his family members, friends and colleagues can never be faced with such mental illnesses.
